The collection contains two military documents, dated "Bridgewater August 23rd 1826," and signed by Capt. Oliver B. Brown ( - ). Each document is an order to William W. Howland ( - ) and Ira Blackman ( - ), both sergeants, "... to warn the persons whose names are hereunder written to be and appear armed and equipped ... for company parade ... on the fourth day of Sept. next ..."

Colonel (COL) Oliver B. Brown enlisted in the United States Army in July 1923. He served as a non-commissioned officer with the Headquarters Company, 101st Engineers. In 1927, he enrolled as a cadet at the Massachusetts Military Academy. After receiving his commission, Brown continued to serve with the 101st Engineers, then the Massachusetts Military Reserves.
